This large chunky lustrous deep blue calcite is a new find from Spitzkoppe, Namibia. There are spots of dark silver grey pyrite dotted about on the surface in places creating an unusual combination. This piece is big and covers the hand, weighing in at just under half a kilo.  There is plenty of texture on this raw and natural specimen and displays some nice parallel cleavage breaks forming rhombic geometric shapes, typical of calcite.
Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral and has a trigonal lattice system with a hardness of 3. With a perfect rhombohedral cleavage it has a tendency to break off into well formed cubes with parallel sides. 
As a soft stone, calcite absorbs energy and is ideal for clearing blockages in the human energy field. This blue calcite is very calming and can help bring a feeling a peace.
