This rich green gemmy dioptase is from Democratic Republic of Congo. Formed in copper rich cavities and fractures of sedimentary rock, the vibrant green is created from the copper ions in the crystal structure. Dioptase is a rare copper cyclosilicate with a hardness of 5 on the Mohs scale, and has a trigonal lattice system.
A lovely crystal to add to a collection, and ideal for therapeutic healing practices.
