Winter Solstice is the point in the wheel of the year when the darkness of night is at its longest, and daylight hours are at their shortest. This is a time of deep slumber, a time to retreat into our inner world and rest from the chaos of a fast paced life. It is a time for stillness and reflection, death, rebirth and regeneration, before the coming of the lighter days and personal transformation 
This grid carries multi layers of healing energies, including ancestral. It is well suited for the winter solstice, which is a time of resting, cleansing and deep healing, before rebirth and transformation takes place as the wheels turns towards the light.
The grid is laid out in a 6 pointed hexagram. This represents balance and harmony and offers protection. The six pointed hexagram, also known as the Star of David, is two triangles overlapping each other, one pointing up, the other down.  This sacred geometry symbolises yin yang energies, male/female, dark/light, hot/cold etc. 
The central focus stone of the grid is a large piece of petrified wood. Tree symbolises many things including life, connection, growth, strength, and communication between worlds. It links the physical with the spiritual. Petrified wood is a fossilised wood that has been replaced by silica and other minerals. It holds ancestral connection and ancient knowledge. It carries Earth energies, and can assist with healing old wounds in this life and past lives. It can help with letting go of unwanted energies, making way for the new. Petrified wood is a stone of transformation and regeneration. It is deeply and gently grounding. 
On top of the fossilised wood sits a clear golden honey piece of amber. Amber is a fossilised tree resin. It holds the sunlight and is warming and nurturing. It helps to foster a feeling of wellness. Amber can be very helpful in combatting feelings of low mood caused by lack of sun in the winter (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Amber will draw out unwanted energies, clear blockages, and cleanse and heal the energetic field, supporting wellness physically and emotionally. It has a strong link to the root, sacral and solar plexus chakra. 
The two central focus stones offer a firm base for deep healing and resonate well with the winter solstice. Its unusual to place two different stones in the centre of a crystal grid, but these two compliment each other particularly well being both tree based. 
There are six small Brandberg Quartz surrounding the petrified wood. These aid links to the ancestors and remembrance of who we are. They heal at a cellular level. Each of the Brandberg Quartz have their own special characteristics and features and have been carefully selected to compliment each other. 
One is a golden smokey fenster quartz / window quartz. Fenster quartz is believed to offer a window to the soul, aid psychic abilities and memory healing, and increase insight and perception.
Two has soft amethyst hues with a phantom, excellent clarity, and a long five sided Isis face. Phantoms in quartz are helpful for revealing and healing the shadow self. An Isis face represent the divine feminine.
Three sparkles with rainbow flashes, and has excellent clarity. there is a subtle presence of red hematite, and there is a baby at the base. Internally there are some delicate inclusions. This quartz offers profound energy cleansing, including chakra and aura cleansing, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual cleansing. The red hematite within the quartz can help reach the hidden and entrenched wounded parts.
Four has an asymmetrical Dow termination (7,3,7,3,7,3), with a prominent channeller receiver face. The quartz has excellent clarity, and  vibrant rainbow flashes within. There are some bold Akashic lines on one side below the termination. A quartz for deep meditation and connection to source, inner truth and totality. A quartz for heart healing, completion and perfection. The rainbow energy is gently and deeply cleansing. 
Five displays a soft wispy amethyst interior and contains a moving bubble within a fluid pocket and a deep recess into the quartz at the base. The fluid inclusion is symbolic of the womb and carries the water element. It is also a time capsule of what has gone before. The recess at the base acts as a portal. 
Six has a bold left leaning timelink, and a longer bold right leaning timelink. The quartz has excellent clarity with some delicate wispy infusions near the base end. The left leaning timelink portal offers access to the past, ancestral links, information, and past lives. The right leaning timelink portal can help with visioning the future, and moving forward, leaving the ‘stuck in a rut’ feeling behind.
Between the Brandberg Quartz sits six small pieces of copal amber holding the light and warm nurturing energies within and around the grid. 
Around the perimeter of the grid sits 12 small pebbles of reddish brown zircon. Zircon is considered to be one of the oldest minerals on Planet Earth. It stimulates sluggish chakras and the energy field, increasing life force. It helps to clear toxins. It can help pull ideas together and bring them into reality. Zircon grounds the spiritual into the physical uniting the two. It a wonderful stone for the winter as having it around you and holding it can feel like a warm hug.
This grid can be created in time for the winter solstice and left up as the wheel of the year turns slowly into longer days and shorter nights. It is a ‘place’ to return to - to come home to - to draw an oracle card - to spend time reflecting and contemplating. This grid is deeply powerful!
When creating the grid, personal Intention can be set, and the grid can also be used as a portal for meditation and/or channeling information. Each stone can be used individually for deep meditative healing.
